William A. Wallace papers 1808-1815 1809-1810

William A. Wallace was a merchant in New York City from the late 1700s to the early 1800s. He was a partner of Nicholas Low (1739-1826) in the mercantile firm Low and Wallace. Collection contains correspondence and financial records of Low and Wallace. Correspondence, 1809-1815, consists mainly of letters received by Wallace concerning his mercantile business exporting such items as tobacco, textiles and lumber. Financial records include purchasing and receiving records, 1808-1811; bills of lading, 1810; and bank books. Also, several letters to Low and some export accounts, 1811-1812.
